CHYNNA BANKS

Chynna Banks started dancing and performing at the tender age of 2 years old. Growing up Afro- Latina, listening to old school soul, salsa, merengue, bachata, and reggaeton, dancing is in her genes and began with her family. Chynna’s foundation began with ballet, tap, and jazz, making her first debut as a dalmatian from 101 Dalmatians.

She continued her dance training throughout elementary and middle school joining the Pittsburgh district performing arts program “Centers” where she studied musical theater, modern, hip-hop and also played the violin.

At the age of 15 Chynna entered the world of ballroom competing in both American and International ballroom styles. Dancing was not limited to the ballroom, as she participated in many dance performances through-out high school and college. While attending college at George Mason University, was recruited to join the Arthur Murray family, but had to wait until after graduation to make her move.

After 10 plus years of performing and teaching professionally and with experience in 25 different dances lead and follow, Chynna is comfortable teaching a big group class or an intimate private lesson, a nervous wedding couple, or a single man taking on a long-time dance interest. No matter what, she is your teacher. Chynna says she loves teaching dance and considers it to be one of the most fulfilling experiences, the best part being the students.
