Andreea’s dance career began in Europe before leading her to New York, Boston and the Washington D.C. area, where she joined what she considers to be the best dance studio in the area – Forever Dancing Ballroom. While exploring several dance styles throughout the years, one thing remained constant in Andreea’s dance life: her passion for teaching Ballroom and Latin dances.
Andreea grew up in Romania, where she started dancing at the young age of 7 years old. As a child and teenager, she had the opportunity to experience a multitude of dance styles including: Romanian Folk dance, Ballroom and Latin dance, belly dance, hip-hop, breakdance, and others. She also had the opportunity to showcase her talents during several dance performances.

The graciousness of Ballroom dance and the joy of Latin dance, made Andreea choose these dances to continue her dance career. During College, Andreea received a more in-depth training on the Latin social dances, including Salsa, Bachata, and Merengue. She also continued dancing Ballroom while creating choreographies and training wedding couples for their first dance.

When she moved to the United States, Andreea explored the beauty of American Smooth (Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, and Viennese Waltz) and American Rhythm (Cha-Cha, Rumba, Bolero, Mambo, and Swing). While earning a Master of Business Administration in New York, Andreea continued her Ballroom training with Professor Richard Fiore, an amazing instructor with a multitude of USISTD certifications. After relocating to the Washington DC area, Andreea continued her passion for Latin dances and explored the beauty of Cuban Salsa, also known as Casino. The Rueda de Casino danced in a circle reminded her of the Romanian Folk Dances she used to perform. Andreea performed several Cuban Salsa dances during the Cuba Summit in Washington DC.

When she is not on the dance floor, Andreea is working in Marketing and Communications in the healthcare industry. Andreea studied in four countries while earning two Master’s Degrees (an M.A. and an M.B.A.). Also, she is fluent in four languages and enjoys traveling to explore and understand how the art of dancing impacts cultures around the world.

Born in Bahia, Brazil, and has practiced capoeira since 1980. He became interested in capoeira at the age of ten after he saw his father, a well-known capoeirista, fighting in a roda.

Because his mother prohibited him from practicing capoeira, which at the time was seen as an outlaw fringe activity, Bomba initially trained in secret under Mestre Buguelo of Grupo Cativeiro in Bahia in 1980.

He later moved to Grupo Esquiva where he trained under Mestre Coentro, and in 1985 started training with his current Mestre, Mestre Benivaldo, who founded Capoeira Barro Vermelho in 1993. Bomba attained the rank of Professor, was later promoted to Contra Mestre, and in May 2014 attained the highest rank of Mestre.

Prior to his 2008 arrival in Washington, D.C., Mestre Bomba taught capoeira in Bahia, Brazil for seventeen years to both Brazilians and non-Brazilians.

In addition to teaching adults, he was actively involved in his community teaching capoeira to young children. In Brazil he has worked with Projeto Axé and Projeto IBG and most recently trained youth at the community organization, Clube Amazonas.

Since 2008, he has been teaching capoeira classes and workshops throughout Washington, D.C., New York City, and other cities in the Northeast for both adults and children.
